Dr Mario Sylvander holds his Master’s degree in French Literature from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his EdD at the UCL Institute of Education. His research involved undergraduate university application interviews to highly selective US universities. He began his career in US college prep day and boarding schools in New York and St. Louis before shifting to international education in Singapore, Panama and China. He trained in college counselling at the Harvard-College Board Institute and he has been providing university guidance for nearly 20 years while also holding a variety of school leadership roles along the way. He has most recently been the Director of Careers and University Counseling at a prestigious international school in Shanghai.
A dual US-Swedish citizen, he grew up in Wisconsin, also living and studying in France during High School. He is an avid cyclist and also enjoys writing, skiing, and table tennis, with pickleball not out of the question.
