Hiba Academy Hangzhou offers a world-class bilingual education for children aged from 2 to 18, which begins in Hiba Academy Hangzhou with the Early Years Foundation Stage supported by the Early Years statements taken from the Zhejiang Curriculum. In Primary School and Senior School we follow the Chinese National Curriculum (with reference to Zhejiang Province guidelines), which is complimented with a wide-range of international teaching resources and materials. Pupils then study the IGCSE and A Levels in our Sixth Form.
According to the latest list published by Forbes China, 3% of the top 100 private international schools in China are from Hangzhou, and Hiba Academy Hangzhou ranks 1st among all bilingual schools in Hangzhou and 53rd in China.
Hiba Academy Hangzhou is also the only institution in Hangzhou to hold dual accreditation from both the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA), making it an internationally recognized bilingual K-12 school.

In the previous academic year, Wellington College Hangzhou successfully celebrated its inaugural graduating class. Among them, an impressive 90% of pupils secured admission to universities ranked within the top 50 of the 2024 QS World University Rankings, with 50% earning offers and generous scholarships from institutions in the global top 20.
In the arts, pupils gained acceptance to world-renowned art academies, including but not limited to: University of the Arts London (ranked 2nd globally and 1st in the UK for Art & Design), Parsons School of Design (ranked 3rd globally and 1st in the US for Art & Design), Maryland Institute College of Art, Academy of Art University (San Francisco), Kingston University.
This legacy of excellence continues. This year, our Class of 2025 has once again demonstrated exceptional admissions success, reinforcing our outstanding university placement strengths. As of February 11, graduates have already received offers from prestigious global universities such as the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Manchester. We eagerly anticipate more remarkable news to come!
In the recently announced IGCSE exams, pupils at Wellington College Hangzhou performed excellently, achieving outstanding results. The school's overall A*/A rate for IGCSE was 87.3%, far exceeding the UK's national average of 21.7%, setting a new record. In the A Level exams, 55% of our pupils achieved A*/A grades, while only 27% of pupils in the UK reached this standard.
It is worth mentioning that Viktoria, one of our Senior School pupils, achieved a tie for the highest score globally in mathematics, in the recently announced IGCSE exam results, deserving the honour of a true star pupil.
In recent years, Wellington College Hangzhou has continuously optimised its curriculum system, strengthened its academic team and improved the education quality, cultivating a large number of high achievers, including Ryan, the double science national champion in IGCSE in 2023, and Joe, the national champion in IGCSE art in 2022. This year, Viktoria's achievement of a tie for the highest score in IGCSE mathematics not only adds glory to the school but also sets an example for other pupils.

As a member of Wellington College Hangzhou, Hiba Academy Hangzhou is proud to have an academic team with rich teaching backgrounds and each having an average teaching experience of over ten years, they lead a team of outstanding educators recruited from within China and around the world. We are committed to supporting and challenging our academic staff to be innovative in their work through a series of proven and robust professional learning programmes. Over 60% of the Chinese staff have a master's degree with over 50% of them having overseas learning experience. More than 70% of the expatriate staff come from the UK. Hiba Academy Hangzhou School has established a distinctive tiered English support system. At the primary level, our ESL (English as a Second Language) programme delivers multi-dimensional support through specialised Chinese teachers. This integrated approach combines embedded classroom assistance to ensure subject mastery with targeted small-group tutorials addressing language barriers. Our teaching research team employs diversified assessment tools to craft personalised learning plans, enabling seamless collaboration between Chinese and international faculty.
The senior school innovatively implements a three-wave EAL (English as an Additional Language) support model:
Wave One establishes an inclusive linguistic environment through differentiated instruction across all subjects.
Wave Two involves customised intervention plans developed by English specialists, featuring dynamic adjustments based on ongoing assessments.

The CCA programme is central to the educational philosophy at Hiba Academy Hangzhou, providing essential additional experience to pupils to create a truly holistic education. These activities take place at the end of the school day and offer pupils a wide range of choices that allow them to extend and challenge their own learning and development, whilst also creating opportunities to nurture talent and foster excellence in fields beyond those that are encountered in the exam hall.
Whether it be learning French, making Lego creations, exploring dance styles, applying strategies in board games, testing fine motor-skills or composing musical scores, the School Activities programme provides the essential building blocks that develop well-rounding children with many strings to their bow.

state-of-the-art campus facilities
In keeping with Hiba's commitment to a holistic education, Hiba Academy Hangzhou is situated on a purpose built, state-of-the-art campus containing all of the facilities required to provide pupils with access to the very best academic and co-curricular opportunities. The appearance and design of the building is inspired by the distinctive architecture at Wellington College in England.
Our football pitch meets the standards set by FIFA and they have certified it. It regularly serves as a venue for international school leagues. In addition, we also have a natural grass football field outside the campus that costs up to 300,000 RMB per year to maintain. The lighting system installed here is provided by Musco, which has been used for major sporting events such as the Sydney, Athens, London Olympics, and the Winter Olympics in Russia. This system not only provides illumination for the pitch, but also enlightens the road ahead for children at Hiba.
We also possess a 25m long, 6-lane swimming pool that meets industry standards and uses a touchpad sensor. The pool water quality is tested daily as we uphold the highest possible standards in contrast to other venues that solely employ purification equipment.
Our grand theatre is equipped with professional equipment like Haworth chairs, Shure stereo, and GrandMA lighting equipment, all renowned by prestigious theatres at home and abroad. With a seating capacity of up to 560 people and an orchestra pit designed for concerts, our theatre is managed and maintained by a skilled team in Singapore. Young performers can hone their skills on this professional stage from an early age, gaining valuable experience and confidence that will help them succeed on any stage, no matter how large.
