Here at Hiba Academy Primary, we are excited to announce the launch of our new initiative, the Parent Reading Ambassadors programme, which aims to engage parents in actively participating in our pupils' literacy journeys. This initiative is designed to foster a love for reading among pupils by involving parents as role models and reading partners within the school environment. By leveraging the enthusiasm and dedication of parents, we hope to create a supportive and enriching reading experience for our pupils.
The benefits of this programme are numerous. Research has consistently shown that parental involvement in a child's education significantly enhances academic performance and emotional well-being. Although parents will be working with pupils other than their own children, their role as Reading Ambassadors will support pupils' reading habits and comprehension skills. Additionally, this initiative promotes community engagement and helps strengthen the bond between the school and families, while also providing parents with a fulfilling volunteer opportunity.
Parents who join the programme have already received comprehensive training and resources to help them effectively support pupils' reading development and have had the opportunity to observe exemplary guided reading lessons in primary classrooms. These resources include recommended reading lists, strategies for engaging pupils in discussions about books, and tips for making reading a fun and collaborative activity.
We encourage all parents to consider becoming Reading Ambassadors and join us in this meaningful endeavour. Together, we can create a nurturing and literate environment that will benefit our pupils for years to come.
